What are your compounds of interest? it helps to have an idea. I would suggest for wide range to use SPE like HLB But all depends on the volume of water the targets and what type of water (e.g. marine, waste, fresh or tap water)

If you want a qualitative/semi-quantitative screening, then you can combine 2 or 3 SPE extractions with 2 or 3 liquid-liquid ones and get a good idea of everything detectable by GC-MS (EI) that's present in your sample (assuming you have enough volume). For accurate qualification and quantification, you must indicate what you are targeting so someone can provide accurate advice.

Depending on your sample and analyte (molecule of interest) you can also perform a liquid-liquid extraction using a separatory funnel.

You have to determine the analyte of interest and then look for a precise method for its extraction and ultimately you can analyse using GC-MS

Liquid-liquid extraction to extract the compounds of interest then inject inton GC-MS. Or purge and trap then GC-MS can also be useful.

My compounds of interest are Dioxins.
