Kindly go through the below document.Look the final equation (3).It doesnt carry directly the amplitude of the incoming wave.So how can we determine the dependence of intensity on amplitude ?Is it the term K merely represents a constant..not sure ..Kindly explain.
Sorry, I'm not going to download and open an unknown .doc file, but the amplitude of the diffraction pattern is directly proportional to the amplitude of the incoming signal. It's actually a simple conservation of energy problem so that if you have twice the power in, you have twice the power out. Likewise, with twice the amplitude (4x the power) in, you have twice the amplitude (4x the power) out. The relative amplitude of the various diffraction bands are related to linear (voltage/field) sums, so that a peak can be twice the amplitude (4x the power) of the input to a single slit, while the null is zero. The power from the null ended up in the peak.

Dear sir kindly .go through the .doc file .The final expression did not contain a direct amplitude term..but it contains terms related to wavelength and distance between the slits etc..
