How the contact theory develops about sphere-plate when there is a particle between them?

recently I am working on the contact theory about probe and the workpiece which needs to be measured, however, there are some microparticles such as metallic debris present between the contact interfaces ,so how can I know how the contact area will change . anyone can help me ,how about giving me some recommends?
