Technology, specifically in the form of Yammer has given our Languages department a platform to store video work of the students. In the past I would sign and they would hopefully absorb but it was didactic and didn't allow for revision, perusal or practice. Now we can post videos of our language work that others can do all that and give feedback. So Yammer can store content, I can give instruction or tailor instruction if a student asks me a question from home (and not in English in the target language), assessment is there online so it can be moderated. Collaboration can now happen as students can edit their work together.
We also use these tools in support of language learning…iPads, apps on the iPads, computers to film and edit and research. Also old fashioned technology like scissors and paper to create representations of a language.
