In the synthesis of metal oxide nanoparticles by sol-gel method, how surface tension of solvents affect crystal growth?

In some cases using a surfactant to reduce the surface tension at the interface between materials. this increases the growth of the nanoparticles and makes it grow bigger than a few tens of nanometers larger than their Kelvin barrier. This barrier is determined by the available surface energy and the radius of curvature of the particle. Moreover, the lowering surface tension produces thicker dip-coated of the sol-gel layer. as a result of the reduction of the liquids absorbed mass, as detailed in the references;
