Social Psychology is a branch of mainstream psychology. You can differentiate them in many ways. Mainstream Psychology is the study of human behaviour. Or you can use the word 'Psychology' to define anyone’s situation of mind like other animals except Human. But when you are using the word 'Social Psychology', you are now only mentioning Human. Mainstram Psychology studies why an individual having such behaviours, how they got them, or how can an individual can get rid or get used to a habit related to their mind! Mainstream Psychology is sometimes is the study of Brain. Mainstream Psychology defines human psychology in terms of biological aspects like brain. And many more!
Social Psychology is somehow different from Mainstream Psychology. It's also the study of human behaviour but deeply than the mainstream. It studies the societal reasons behind committing a behaviour by an individual, the impacts of such behaviour in the society overall. It studies human psychology in terms of the individuals' surroundings, his family, life span, peers, education, in a word- the individual's 'socialization'.
There are others differences. Here is one or two! But I think these differences are major and primary.
Social psychology is a subfield of psychology that focuses on the influence of social factors on individuals' thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It examines how people's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are influenced by their social environment, including the presence of others, social norms, social roles, and social interactions. In contrast, psychology as a broader field encompasses the study of individuals' thoughts, feelings, and behaviors across various contexts, including social, cognitive, developmental, clinical, and other areas. While social psychology emphasizes the social factors that shape individuals' experiences, psychology as a whole considers a wider range of factors and perspectives.
Social psychology is a branch of psychology that deals with how people's thoughts , emotions and behavior are influenced by others in society and the environment within which they occur while psychology is the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes. In as much as there may be some similarities, it is worth noting that psychology focuses on individual traits and thoughts while social psychology focuses on situations.
Case study 1
Peter who is known by family and friends to be timid and law abiding, joins college. During his second year of college,, he is identified as the ringleader of the most devastating strike that college has ever experienced.
Now this is a case that would interest the social psychologists as it falls within their realm.
Case study 2
Two patients Anne and Grace are diagnosed with a terminal illness at varying stages. Anne is at an advanced stage while Grace is at an early stage of infection. they are advised on what to do to at least extend their lives and be a bit comfortable. Anne changes her lifestyle and embraces self care. She lives with her condition for a long time. Grace decides hat all is over for her and goes into depression. She succumbs three months later.
Case 1 shows how an individual can be influenced by others and the environment while case 2 shows how different individuals process same information differently. What is considered simple foe one person, may be overwhelming for another depending on their perspectives.
Adding to the previous answers, many still focus on the individual. Social psychology also describes the behaviour of groups, what groups do, how individuals function in groups, but mainly it studies people in relationship with and to others. Social psychology gives eg models for group formation, the stages or phases a group goes through, leadership patterns, roles and tasks.
The social perspective in psychology suggests that a person learns of the rules along with the accepted norms of a society via interacting with other persons. This learning takes place through both imitation of others and biological survival processes.
well i would say it is quite simple. social is defined by a group, a minimum of two and the term psychology in general is or can be focused on one person alone and forever.

The object of study and intervention of Social Psychology is, especially, relationships, therefore interpersonal. On the other hand, psychology focuses more on the itrapersonal.
Just make it simple to understand, the difference is social (social psychology) and sciences (psychology). Social psychology is more towards the "relations" between individuals (which may involve subjective norms, attitudes, etc) and the environment (people or situations). Meanwhile, psychology is more towards the neurosciences.
I am more in agreement with Azis's definition, because from my point of view, the object of attention of social psychology is the relationship between people: the interpersonal. While psychology has the individual as its object of investigation: the intrapersonal
