Hi everyone, I am modelling a reinforced beam under impact load.
I chose to model it with element type B21. Any suggestion about how to define material's property in order to simulate elasto-plastic behavior of concrete and steel reinforcements too?
Do I have to define an equivalent material that takes into account the behavior of both of them?

You can see a sample example for this common problem. I think each software provides examples to clarify using it.

You can not simulate a concrete beam as a B21 or other type of beam elements. If you want to consider the crack propagation or energy absorption through the cracking, you need to use of brick element. Beam element can not use for concrete material specially for dynamic analysis or other nonlinear analysis.
It is possible to define reinforcmnt using B21/B31 beam element. Following is the procedure defined in manual, i could not find any publication which refer to the procedure,

We are trying to follow this procedure, but its still in process. Also if you have a experience of writing a UMAT, you can introduce uniaxial concrete constitutivemodel proposed by Mander et al. (1988a, 1988b) by UMAT. Following publication explained the procedure,

Thanks both for the answers. Anyway I am not interested in crack propagation or energy absorption through the cracking, my analyses is focused only on the bending behavior. I am not familiar with UMAT, so I think I will look better in Abaqus guide.
