Hi. I would like to design 3 electrode system for a battery to investigate anode and cathode separately with the voltage reference of Li/Li+

Because the battery itself is pouch-sealed, it cannot be disassembled. So I considered connecting the reference electrode system having the same electrolyte as the battery with well-known reaction, Li+ + e -> Li, to the battery.

Attached is the schematic of 3 electrode system that I roughly designed.

Speaking of salt bridge, I think the salt bridge connecting between the battery and the reference electrode would not be necessary since the current flowing between them is very small.

I tried this experiment, but it failed. the voltage wasn't correctly read..

What's the problem for this system?
