How prevent washing out of Ca2+ from Alginate hydrogel?

Hello!

If I have an alginate gel cross-linked with 20mM Ca2+, how can I add and remove culture media without washing away the Ca2+ from the alginate?

How much Ca2+ should I supplement my media with?
