1. Some times, I come across some Institutions/Conferences calling or papers, articles etc. They ask the Abstract to be sent initially, followed by the full text/paper.
2. I can't say that it is impossible or can't be sent an "Abstract" first, unless a full paper was ready by the time they are called for. But, what about the topic is a fresh one and it has to be written afresh, and not an archival item?
Thank you Dr. Madhu Bala. Apropos to your revert, it's obvious that abstract need not represent 100 percent of the paper/publication.
A brief summary or abstract of the study allows conference organizers to prescreen if the paper is aligned with theme of the conference. Once accepted, some would require to submit the full paper for future repository or publication purposes and awarding of best papers.
Writing an abstract for conferences/seminars are a bit different from research article abstracts. In most of the cases that I come across, people use to write the abstract first as in most of cases it is time bound and took less time, then only they start writing the full papers based on the abstract.
I often write a paper first, than polish and refine the abstract. However, if you need an abstract first then the paper, consider Abstract to be as a 'skeleton', a rough plan for your paper. At this stage, you can describe 'Results' sentence within the Abstract in a very generalized way, i.e. how you expect them to be in principle, based on your hypothesis. At the last stage (full paper submission) you can re-write the final version of your abstract.
