There are many intelligent models developed in computer engineering, including fuzzy logic, genetic algorithm, artificial neural network, and more recently, Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System . My question is: to what extent are these tools applied in petroleum engineering? and more specifically, how much familiar are petroleum engineers with these tools?
I know mathematical models relating to aging of fuels, fuels properties depending on the amount of the (different) additive(s), corrosion of fuel transportation systems depending on the pressure and composition of the fuel. There are also models for process optimization. The mechanical aspects (load of pumps, pipes, pressure) may be solved with FEM. I think if you could send information about the problem, my answer could be more targeted.
