I'm doing a degradation test for electrospun scaffolds (composed of polymers and bioceramics) using SBF (simulated body fluid). How often should I change the solution for my samples to keep the results accurate?
P.s: I'm planning to keep my samples in it for 2 or 3 weeks
It should be changed the solution by every 2 days and use refresh SBF solution upto you whole course of study.

I think it depends on the degradation behavior of your polymer and ceramic.
But generally 2 or 3 days is OK. If you are using fast degradation materials you should use smaller time steps.

i think you have to calculate the degradation rate(starting )of your material then you can decide according to the rate if it high or low you will decide the time to change your SFA

Actually,, the degradation seems to be very slow as I'm using PLA (almost no change in 5 days)

If the weight of your sample if you kept for one week whether its increasing of saturated. If it was saturated you can stop immersing your polymer in SBF in 2 or 3 weeks.
This depends on the nature of scaffold and its supposed usage. If it is to be used for bone regeneration for example, the period of change may be each week (long intervals). If the tissue was skin for example, the interval will be shorter. Anyway, you can start a pilot study at first (for example: total period of 3 weeks) and change it every 3 days and assess the change. If there were significant changes between 2 successive measurements, you can concentrate on this period during your main testing stage.
If your sample degrades faster (within a week) then change SBF everyday. If more than a week then you should every alternative day
I suggest you fix the change of media constant through the whole expirament even if the weight isnt changing much at any given point. Degradation behaviour might change at any time point or it might stay at one type throughout the whole period of time.
Also you might want to consider expanding the study time till you get significant difference in weight.
as for the duration, 3 days would be optimal.
