It will depend. If you know which gene to KO in that case you should keep at least one year for the safe side (till T0 line analysis). if your work involves analysis in T1 or more generations than more time.

Kourosh Vahdati Thank you for your comment. Mainly my thesis will be on CRISPR/ Cas9 , because of the border restriction in China I am bit concerned about the time I will get.
