Hello everyone, I have a question about the change of copper suface area of Cu/Zn/Al catalyst for CO2 hydrogenation to DME reaction. How much suface area does copper lose during CO2 hydrogenation to DME reaction? The change of copper suface area before and after reaction. For example, the reaction time is 24 hours or 48 hours, the temperature is between 220-260 C, the the pressure is between 400-600 psig. Does anyone know some published results about this?

The most common cause of deactivation of Cu catalysts is due to the growth of Cu crystallites that results in reduction of surface area. Check out these papers and their referenced articles for better understanding how much surface area is lost.

The amount of surface loss depends many factors such as metallic sites properties such as metal type, metal loading, dispersion, and support properties such as BET of surface, pore structure, pore size distribution, ... so I think you can not compere your results by others. It's better to focus on your catalyst properties and report the obtained data for the reaction.
