As we all know , TB is the disease of poverty. We are learning from different reports that the global burden and impact of TB is decreasing from time to time due to a number of interventions. However, still millions are dying evry year around the world by TB and we are aware that still new transmissions are circulating within the communities of some of the developing nations.
Unless nations design a strategy to significantly decrease poverty how it is possible to end TB with in just a couple of decades?
To end TB, reduce the poverty. But it need more time as poverty strongly related with human being. Every policies regarding human must be carefully examined (and it takes long time). But I believe, by reduce poverty not only diminish TB but also another health issues.
If there is political will & is taken-up as a priority, there is no reason why TB cannot be eradicated. Sadly, both are missing.
To end TB, there must be a strong focus on TB prevention which includes actions geared towards limiting the impact of TB risk factors such as HIV/AIDS, diabetes, smoking, malnutrition, alcoholism and crowded living conditions. The attitudinal nature of some of these risk factors makes it difficult in ending TB in a short while. We can only hope for the best. All hands must be on deck.
It needs only meticulous planning, robust community mobilization, effective and accountable governance and strong political will .. India can achieve it and World also.
A major concern is the resurgence of TB and its appearance in the non-poor but vulnerable (low immunity) population, particularly in India. This need to be addressed on priority. Early detection & treatment is a key element to the fight against TB.

i think Ending TB in the few upcoming decades is all about personal commitment and continuous fight based on the main causes from all the actors working in the field.
I agreed with Jouego, Dwivedi, Murray and franklin. Community Involvement is key to the eradication of TB. Apart from that, public sensitization about all possible routes to TB infection will help. Also, bovine tuberculosis is one of the neglected infectious diseases, that could lead to TB, thus concerted efforts from all stakeholders should be engendered to eradicate BTB cum TB. Amidst that, more attantion should be focused on itinerant and vulnerable population, whose health are compromised. MORE TO SAY...
