Hello everyone, I want to inject the mice with an inhibitor dissolved in DMSO. Does anyone have experience on how much DMSO is tolerable. Which volume range will not cause too much toxicity? Thank you very much.
Thank you for all your suggested references, they are very useful. I forgot to mention the drug I want to dissolve in DMSO is balfilomycin A1.
To have a summary, LD50 for DMSO in mice by IP is 6.2 ml/kg (or 14.7~17g/kg according to another reference). Someone suggests a single dose of ip injection not more than 30 ul in one mouse.
Also, whether the drug compound will precipitate or not after injected should be carefully studied. But I think that would be another big project.

Well the application of DMSO to mice can cause significant changes...0.1ml in i.p. injection makes them quite disorientated and their reactions are slow. In our experience DMSO should be avoided!
