From the agricultural point of view, any agriculture graduate should gather at least some basic knowledge about fundamentals in agricultural science. But, when that guy becomes so busy in his/her biotechnology researches as well as scientific discoveries with so many advancing issues and modern interventions, how much important to keep updates on grassroot problems in agriculture say for: nutrient enrichment in problematic soil, seed priming and purification to prevent soil borne diseases, suitable irrigation practices for cereals and pulses in arid or semi-arid regions, insect management in barassicaceae crops etc. ???
He/she should update himself/herself about contemporary global experiences in order to provide sustainable solutions for emerging issues in the sector. Failure to update oneself in the sector may underpins failure to address pressing contemporary issues in the sector.
Why its only for agricultural bio-technologists only , it applies equally well to all disciplines....
An agricultural biotechnologist is a professional trained to improve organoleptic and nutritional characteristics, apply conservation methods, and reduce and prevent health risks during the processing of food and agro-industrial products. As well as, manipulate conventional and genetically modified organisms to increase the quality of the products. The application of administrative procedures for the optimization of resources in a rational manner and with respect to the environment, in addition, will be able to develop the following professional skills:
1-Design and evaluate the biotechnological processes through the application of microbiological, physicochemical techniques and attending the international quality standards, to improve the elaboration and conservation processes of agricultural products, which satisfy the demands of the local, state, regional, national and international market, with innovative attitude, disposition to work with multidisciplinary groups, responsible, honest and with respect to the environment.
2-Application of biotechnology through the technique of micropropagation and cell cultures to increase productivity and guarantee the agricultural innocuousness demanded by the local, state, regional, national and international market, with a creative, responsible attitude and respect for the environment.
3-Use the agro-industrial residues, through the application of biotechnological methods and techniques, with attachment to environmental standards, for its transformation and use in the agricultural systems of the region; with innovative attitude, with disposition to teamwork, responsible and with respect to the environment.
For all the above mentioned, the professional must maintain a constant update to optimize his areas of competence.
