I am interested to determine the anti bacterial properties of nanocoated knitted polyster fabric. We are intended to coat the fabric with Titanium NPs. Thus, I am interested to know how to determine the antibacterial properties of such fabric?
You can use kirby bauer disk susceptibility test. In this test, nanocoated knitted polyster with 6mm or 9mm are placed on an agar plate(mueller hinton agar) where bacteria (Example"staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 or E.coli ATCC25922 or .... ) have been placed, and the plate is left to incubate. If an nanocoated knitted polyster stops the bacteria from growing or kills the bacteria, there will be an area around the nanocoated knitted polyster where the bacteria have not grown enough to be visible. This is called a zone of inhibition.You must be used clinical and laboratory standards institute rules.
You can follow ASTM E2149: Standard Test Method for Determining the Antimicrobial Activity of Immobilized Antimicrobial Agents Under Dynamic Contact Conditions.
To analyse you should collect experimental data and create a model of experimental data. The best method for creation of the model is artificial neural networks. Will you see, please, http://amf21.ru/biblioteka/meroprijatija-provodimye-associaciei/proekt-rffi-sozdaniebazy-
To investigate the antibacterial activity of woven and knitted fabrics impregnation can be made with zinc oxide/TIO2 nano particles separately. The reduction percentage of bacteria by the 100%cotton and polyester/cotton blend fabrics is reported as R,
R = 100(B –A)/B.
Antibacterial test AATCC 100-2004 can be performed against Staphylococcus aureus (Gram positive organism) and Klebsiella Pneumoniae (Gram negative organism).
