In follicles after the spontaneous LH surge, there are 20.0 ± 9.2 millions theca interna cells (n=9) per follicle. This number is similar to the number observed in follicles sampled between the estradiol peak and the LH surge: 19.2 ± 7.3 (n=11). I have also preovulatory follicles up to the estradiol peak but calculations need to be done.
