Thanks for the invitation. As a member of the teaching staff of a University, I spend an average of 50 hours a week (teaching, research and administrative activities).
We are required to spend 40% of our time, so you spread out this time according to your due dates for submissions for seminars and journal articles. The latter should take up 516 hours for a calendar year. I hope this helps.
As I am retired and now independent, my load has decreased! I reply with estimates from my last years before I retired from university affiliated research. I assume that you are interested in the nominal ratio of research to teaching loads.
Research: 7 hours per week (Nominally "Friday")
Teaching: 28 hours per week (Nominally "Monday-Thursday")
Total: 35 hours per week
Over peak periods and during fire-fighting, work would spill into the evenings, weekends and holidays, which was the rule more than an exception!
Your question asks for various answers according to each researcher's agenda, physical capacities (state of health) and intrinsic will. In my case I consider my hourly volume is 30 to 40 hours per week
How many hours do you spend for research, preparing seminars and lectures?
I spend around 12 hours per week on research as I work full time as IT architect. I will spend a bit more times for those occasions that I need to present in research conferences.
Thanks for the invitation. As a member of the teaching staff of a University, I spend an average of 50 hours a week (teaching, research and administrative activities).
Thank you for your invitation. In fact, I do not think I have specified for your mentioned matters. But I have a little time and limited to enjoy with my family and a specific period for the enjoyment of the holiday journey. Reading is taken almost all my time.
As being M.Phil researcher... during study period it took me 3 hours at least, depending upon stuff while weekend sometimes goes full time.
On the other hand, i do have an experience of teaching at demonstrator level... which was 6 hours per week for class teaching ... and 1-2 hours per day for preparation of lectures.
This varies according to the activities and degree. A Doctor who needs to comply with a minimum of research and publications, does not work less than 50 hours per week.
The first year is very complex and takes many hours the preparation of classes, the three first years remain complex, but if there is not changes in the programmation the effort is less after that time. I think it is very difficult to live in a great city with many hours in transports.
I am spending 10-14 hours every day even in holidays. These hours include researching, teaching, administration work, and participation in research gate and other scientific media.
Dears Dr. Osmar Bonzanini, Proff. Fikrat Hassan, Proff. Subhash C. Kundu, Dr. Mariano Ruiz Espejo, Dr. Aly Abdel Moemin, Dr. Chalamalla Srinivas, thank you all for your answers and participations,
In my case, work is a pleasure. Teaching, self conducting classes is approximately 10-12 hours per week (5 days). The next 10 hours is to check written work, correcting subsequent versions of theses. About an hour daily administrative and organizational. To 2 hours per week counselling for students. This gives about 5 hours a day. The rest of my time is spent on reading, writing, reviews, articles, development and testing, data query, patch my texts, participation in conferences, councils, committees, etc. Usually I'm working from 8 am to 4 or 5 in the afternoon. So it really is work all day. New lectures preparing a holiday for the whole next year.
Difficult question. I can not count thеse hours. The truth is that time is never enough. There is always something more to do, something more to change, something more to improve. Even when we are not in the lab, among students or with our computer, we continue to think about our research, our lectures, our students. This is not an ordinary profession, it is our life.
For the first time, I need a lot of hours, because I am analysing the auditors, students and pupils. But later on my time needs are reduced because of already done work. But always I feel the necesscity to analyze the abilities of my audience.
Researcher and teacher is a difficult job need more time, for e.g one lecture preparation may need more time than that period of showing lecture which ranged between one to three hours
Working on research and preparing for lectures are labor of love. They take whatever they take; i.e. until perfection is achieved. They are not controlled by a budgetary term such as hours. Sleep less so that you have more time to work on your lectures or research.
Educational institute they are not asking for your time, but your devotion. In industry you get what your paid for; thus time is the currency.

For all activities of seminars, presentations, research projects, preparation of papers for publication and analysis of results, 8 hours a day, 6 days a week.
It depends on long term goals, quality of work and department, usually new faculty has been seen too busy with research even after hours as well. Good faculty usually have 50-60 hour work week I would guess..
