Trying to disperse 1 gram of Carbon Black ( average size of 55nm) in a 200ml distilled water with SDS surfactant.
Some literature mentions that the CMC of SDS in pure water ( no other addition) is about 8 mM but adding nanoparticles complicate the process.
Hello everyone; In our recent research on heat transfer of water/carbon nanofluid, we used SDS as surfactant to reach more stability. In that experiment, carbon nano particles and SDS were mixed by 2:1 ratio in based fluid of water. This compound is placed in a mixer for 30 minutes and then, in order to create more stability, the nanofluid is placed in an ultrasonic device at a constant frequency of 20 Hz for about 30 minutes. Finally, it was seen that the proper stability was remained, after three days. The attachment is a view of the nanofluid, after three days, with and without SDS. The manuscript of mentioned experiment is under review, in Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry (Springer publication), now.
