Really very impressive work for the review of research paper. I reviewed in 2018 approximately 27 papers. I reviewed paper from Bioresource Technology, Water Research, Water Science Technology, ESPR, Water Air Soil Pollution, Environmental Science Technology, Process Biochemistry, Environmental Engineering Science, Water Environment, ect.
I have reviewed 8 papers so far this year for journals and about 12 for conferences.
If you have the right competence, it is important to have good attitude and contribute to such work. If you publish regularly yourself, why should others spend time on reviewing your papers if you are unwilling to do reviews for others.
When I was editor of a journal, I realized some people that were pushing for quick reviews of their own papers but responding that they did not have time for such work when I assigned a review to them.
It was a similar question on Research Gate related to this earlier this year. You can check the responses on the link below:
Thank you Dr Olav Bjarte for your answer, i work in secretary of Editorial Board of Kirkuk University Journal of Agricultural Sciences, we also suffer from the same constraints you mentioned above.
Until now, I have reviewed 9 articles in 2018 and I promised to review another one.
I reviewed also around 15 papers for conferences.
Reviewing an article per month does not pose problems, but unfortunately the rhythm at which articles are being proposed for review is not constant, and this can lead to overlaps.
