I want to make a solution in which a series of different oils are mixed (agitated) and then revert to a separate layer looking formation. The same way oil and water by itself would do.
I have attempted to catalogue the oils by density and this gives some results; however, a series of 5 different oils for example give only 3 layers. I have also attempted to mix these same 5 oils with cyclopentasiloxane and butylene glycol but again I only get 3-4 distinct layers not the 5. Water does not work since emulsifies the solution.
I am looking for a nontoxic method to do this. Any taker would be appreciated.
Visual window without the emulsification should give you another method. Some settling time at RTP may help.

It is the use of light and gravity simultaneously, very simple, nothing complex. Just have a narrow window along the length of the centrifuge or the mixing cylinder or the pippette, say, with some width to physically identify the layers. This will work everytime.

Soumitra, thank you very much. However, shaking the oils once in layer formation does not bring them back into layers formation. Perhaps I am misunderstanding what is being said.
In that case you can use a mean specific gravity measurement which can be a second best measurement.
