This may be a silly question to some, but I have a 9-year old, filter-sterilized 3 M solution of glucose in a clear bottle. The solution has no visible contamination. Can I assume this solution is still good?
This question seems to have been automatically classified as relevant to my expertise. I regrette to say it is very far away from my expertise as a Geophycist/Seismologist. Although it is an important question that I will recommend for its value and follow by scientific curiosity. Have a nice day.
It may contain invisible contamination of some micro organisms (bacteria / fungus/ virus) as well as some toxins produced by any of them.
As it was stored for such a long period, the glucose may be broken down.
As filtration may not make any solution TOTALLY ORGANISM FREE, so better it should be thrown outside.
it shouldn't be used for several times, because some parasites may grow into it

Did you find out how long can you store glucose solution for?
I have a 100 mg/L glucose solution stored at 4 degree Celsius for 6 months. Unfortunately I do not have glucose powder readily available, so I would like to know if I can rely on this stored solution.
