One simply can’t fully appreciate the Internet without English. One of the hottest topics in the world of technology and business at the moment, it would be mind-boggling to imagine how important language will become when there are 50 billion interconnected objects. And link language will be English!!

I don't see that IoT use is going to directly increase the use of the English Language, as user interfaces to IoT controlled devices and services will probably be localized and as machine translation services get better, as pointed out in the second article you included. The first article you included does not directly address the "Internet of Things" as it doesn't talk about connected physical devices.
It may be that IoT indirectly increases English language usage because so many ontologies describing IoT systems are English based (see first link) and some platforms for integrating and controlling IoT like IFTTT (see second link) are in English. But this affects mainly developers, who are probably going to be familiar with English anyway.

It could a good question for empirical research to find if any co-relation between IoT and improvement of english exist. Otherwise IoT user oriented message / user interfaces would be more localized for end users who might not be familiar with English.
This is a great question, and perhaps only time will tell.
We already know that, in the context of higher education, international students will access texts and language sources to help them learn concepts in a different language. In this way, IoT may facilitate some of the human processes that currently emerge.
However, I also agree that it may not have a direct effect. The relationship between
...have a mutually constitutive characteristic. In other words, there is a fascinating dialectic that co-develops. We can look to the work of Vygotsky, Holland et al, and Bourdieu for this thinking. Here is also a critique of these ideas:
