I am new to multifractal models used in turbulence in order to characterize the intermittency behavior neglected by the Kolmogorov picture and I have a trouble with some basic notions. Could anyone tell us the relationship between the exponent of the structure function and the fractal dimension given by the log-Poisson model? (please see the formulas below)
Dear Abdallah, all this has to do with intermittency of turbulence. After I have had solved the most fundamental problems of turbulence at Re ->infty (attachment) recently I am confronted more and more with what I call "second-order" problems like intermittency. I strongly believe that my so successful particle picture (spaghetti arrabiata, i.e. two-fluid concept where one sort is ideal - the souce - and the other one a quasi-solid, the spaghetti) may solve the intermittency problem, too. For instance, the dissipative patches with the magic clockwork of Hans Herrmann within (this is the Kolmogorov spectrum) is in only slow or negligible motion and not "free", where the free vortex dipoles follow a Brownian motion. If we use this picture and apply elementary statistics then we should find all the intermittency features which are taken until now still as a mystery and fills the turbulence literature without any substantial results - only approximations, speculations etc. If you are ready to join an adventure then you're welcome. WE could open a PROJECT at ResearchGate to solve this conundrum. For me alone it's boring.
Thanks Helmut for being part of this discussion. Yes the problem of intermttency stills to be Chinese for me and I have many questions to ask about. The MF formalism seems to be for the moment the best approach to explain better the energy cascade by including the intermittency behavior. We would definitely open a project here to discuss the spaghetti arrabiata, where researchers could tell us about their opinion about it. I would also like to know whether there is some literature on that?? Thanks!

No. Because it's pure phenomenology. But we need a theory, a clear mechanistic picture. I have sent you a paper last time and would like to ask you simply to read it and to ask questions if needed. Have a nice evening!
