Every reference paper I have viewed on thrust faulting shows geologic cross section parallel to the direction of movement of the thrust sheet. My question is what do perpendicular cross sections look like. If the sheet has 8km of displacement, is there a corresponding 8 km of strike slip displacement on the bounding fault to the thrust sheet? What models/examples of this exist. It it common to have one fault, or a horse tail system of structures?
