How is it that many Indian universities assign scholars to guides who lack specific publications in the relevant domain? Doesn't the UGC guideline stipulate a minimum requirement of three publications for a guide? Now, scholars are compelled to fulfil the UGC's requirements for their guides to qualify their so-called guides as guides. Isn't this scenario indicative of a potential scam? Furthermore, scholars are hindered by their inability to publish due to the lack of expert content in their research. How can a guide provide expert input when they have never published at least three papers on the particular topic? Guides are innocent because they are asked to do their duty. Certainly, universities cannot bypass the publication requirements, which are essential criteria for selecting guides and necessitate a minimum of three publications. Given the shortage of eligible guides meeting this criterion, the responsibility for meeting the guide publication requirement falls upon the scholar.
