Studies have shown effects of engineered nanomaterials to organisms (micro, macro, fauna, and flora); but how are organisms affecting the physicochemical properties of the particles (feedback), which is an important for predicting nanparticles' long-term fate and effect.

Our recent work has confirmed synergistic effects of silver nanoparticle and C. marina (extracellular reactive oxygen specie producer) on fish gill cells although the mechanism is still unknown. The speculative answer will be related with enhanced AgNP dissolution and potentially highly reactive hydroxyl radicals.
