I have read some journal about biomarkers in cancer disease. I found several proteins is significantly have higher concentration in cancer than normal people.

but when I investigate the protein in Uniprot, I found these protein are localized in cytoplasm/nucleus. I found this is pretty odd due to protein in blood plasma should be extracellular type protein (ex: IL, cytokine, etc).

can anyone give me some journal or reference to explain this phenomenon?

Thanks.
