I want to increase concentration of landfill leachate in lab. I used RO filtration but changing COD of feed solution was not great (initial COD was 5.5 and secondary COD was 5.8). Do you have any method for concentrating landfill leachate without changing composition? (Just removing water).
if you used RO filtration, COD must be decreased to zero? Because RO filtration prevent almost materials, quality effluent is very pure.
If you want to increase COD concentration, you can add glucose. This method doesn't make changes in volume of wastewater. Or you can use coagulation process (use PAC & PAA) to decrease COD, this method make waste sludge.
Some people have used leachate recirculation techniques to minimize the volume of the leachate. You can check few recent papers for details. For ex: Waste Management & Research , Vol. 14, 4,1996, pp, 347–365. You may get better insights. All the best.
