I have a lab report about 3 microorganism that were placed in different growing media and their absorbance was recorded over a certain period of time.I have got few questions and I can't find answer on it, pls help. *ALSO will this affect the measurements if they using different growing media. ???
The doubling time is specific to the growth medium, so you can't compare doubling times measured in different media.
Somewhat disagreeing with Adam B Shapiro, you could compare what ever you want, the question is what will the comparison mean.
Growth media will effect growth, so will temperature (and different microorganisms might have different optimal temperature), salt, pH and many other parameters.
Bottom line - design the experiment to answer the question and not vice versa
* Yes, it will affect the measurements if the microorganisms are grown on different media etc (growth conditions). For example, you could compare the three strains when they are grown under the same growth conditions. Or compare one strain under different growth conditions. But comparing different strains in different media will increase the number of variables and either does not provide any useful conclusion or are at least very hard to interpret (with lots of questions remaining).
