Hydroxychloroquine alone or with Azithromycin for COVID-19: No benefit but increased risk
No significant benefit with Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin either alone or in combination on in-hospital mortality in COVID-19 patients in New York, USA. However, increased risk of prolonged QT-interval with risk of ventricular arrhythmias.

Hydroxy chloroquinine is not a therapr for COVID-19 virus, but it can prevent the virus from entering cells. Ingestion of it at the primary stages of infection is very useful.
Most of the studies that are against chloroquine(CQ) in the management of COVID-19 are outside Africa where CQ had been used for he treatment of malaria for decades without apparent complications. Currently, in my environment we use combination of CQ with other drugs to manage COVID-19 with favourable outcomes. Patients recieved treatments for 5days to one week and turn up negative for the virus in my environment the number of active cases in the centre is less than 50% ie more than 50% has been discharged. The clinical outcome to us is favourable and above all cheap. It is possible that environmental or genetic are at play.
@ Gouam Kumar. I think we will await a more elaborate global climate called trial or meta analysis to arrive at a position on CQ I know there are ongoing trials. However, we should not rule out scientific conspiracies for latency in favour of other newer drugs. We shall see the truth at the end of the tunnel.
A study published in lancet on 22 May, they took 96032 patients and have observed high mortality rate, along with irregular heartbeats.
However, another study showed that efficacy of hydroxycholororib can be increased by using Zinc additives along with it. As Zinc also contributes in the reduction of viral activities.
While we await outcome of trials. CQ was used as weekly dose in malaria endemic environment to prevent malaria. This may have been informed from its half life and clearance period from the system. However, this may be extrapolated for the prevention of COVID-19 and may be a way out in reducing the spread. This will be an interesting area of research.
This is an important area of discuss. I benefited from responses from @Md Sazal, Goutam Kumar Jena, Fouad Yousuf, Gamal Enan, Said Byadi and Sana Arshad.

The link above did not go to my thread opened up a discussion on 1. WHO suspension of hydrochloroquine in its trial and 2. is it social distancing or physical distancing? ill appreciate your inputs
