I have been given this essay question: Discuss the different forms of violence against women, and evaluate the use of global feminist psychology in our understanding of this area. I'm struggling with the structure of this essay - how would I go about answering the question?
I think that in science we need to approach a feminist view to be aware of the social differents between the reality of men and the reality of women. I don't know well how the feminist psychology has been working specifically, but psychology can study the social origin oof the patriarchy order, its consequences in women's life and health, how are we keeping this patriachy in our society with our behaviour and social heritage, and how can we change it (because we all know that the violence to women has its origin in the patriarchy).
In general, it's impossible to approach the social and personal reality if we forget the differences of genre (genre, not sex), because we would be studying an hypothetial homogeneous population that, sadly, doesn't exist. This is the feminism view in science, nothing more.

As Sara already explained, the feminist approach to explain violence against women mainly focuses on patriarchy (e.g., Pagelow, 1981; Walker, 1989). Other approaches to explain violence against women come from evolutionary psychologists or family conflict researchers. Archer (2000a, 2002) gives a good overview over the different theoretical perspectives.
