Bio char is a type of charcoal used as a soil ameliorant for both carbon sequestration and soil health benefits and also being used for the management of soil borne plant pathogens but I doubt whether it will be an economic and ecofriendly approach for the management of plant diseases.
Good question , could be a possibility , but right now , such reports are miniscule in number....

Currently very little biochar is utilized in agriculture, in part because its agronomic value in terms of crop response and soil health benefits have yet to be quantified, and because the mechanisms by which it improves soil fertility are poorly understood. The positive effects of biochar on crop productivity under conditions of extensive agriculture are frequently attributed to direct effects of biochar-supplied nutrients and to several other indirect effects, including increased water and nutrient retention, improvements in soil pH, increased soil cation exchange capacity, effects on P and S transformations and turnover, neutralization of phytotoxic compounds in the soil, improved soil physical properties, promotion of mycorrhizal fungi, and alteration of soil microbial populations and functions.

Biochar can increase the yield significantly as results are being shown. But, it is not economical. In addition, we should also consider soil health and the health of other soil microbes. How many soil microbes are in danger due to Biochar applications? Rather than applying biochar, there is a need to focus on the parent soil. We need to find whether the soil is diseased or healthy, If it is diseased then we need to manage it in a sustainable way to make it healthy, like the incorporation of natural organic manures or green manures or by other cultural practices or by encouraging beneficial microbes, in this way we can get optimum yield without jeopardizing the soil health. It is economical and eco-friendly than the application of biochar. In addition, the variety that is being used is most important, if it is a good variety then it can give optimum yield. Biochar is not a balanced diet, it is like an energy drink, but if a field or a plant take an energy drink every year and every time, it can be habitual and in the end, it will not take other inputs and its health will start deteriorating. Therefore we need to provide all inputs to the fields and varieties in a balanced way.
