Thanks for asking question about the calculation of Excess unwanted fertility (EUF). It is not too difficult to compute. Data of only two aspects of fertility is required to do this. The actually prevailing fertility in a population of given area (TFR) and the level of fertility of the same area which people desire/want. Now by subtracting the level/rate of fertility that people want from actually prevailing fertility (TFR), excess unwanted fertility is obtained. It can be calculated as;

EUF = TFR-WF OR

Excess unwanted fertility= Total fertility (TFR)- Wanted fertility
