In Ecuador, entrepreneurship is in vogue. The country has a legal framework that normalizes the articulation of Education and Entrepreneurship. In addition, Ecuador has the highest rate of Total early-stage Entrepreneurial Activity and there is a large number of public and private initiatives that promote entrepreneurship in the country. However, the Education and Training System in Ecuador has a labor pedagogy rather than an entrepreneurship and innovation pedagogy; so in the country, intrapreneurship is almost null and entrepreneurship does not prosper.
In practice, there is a disarticulation of Education and Entrepreneurship in Ecuador, which could be affecting the social and economic development of the country.

Back in the 1980s, the then UK government tackled this question by avoiding the usage of charged terms such as entrepreneurship, and argued for an "enterprise culture". They funded specific programmes which were optional add-ons to degree curricula to explore the idea of "enterprise" and of course, these became entrepreneurial, more and more so as the neoliberal agenda of which they were part gathered momentum. They extended into schools too and embraced intrapreneurship from the beginning - however, the initiative followed the massive onslaught on the unions so the context was of much weakened labour capacity to respond. Whilst there is much work available on mainstream entrepreneurship, the most imaginative has come from Daniel Hjorth and Chris Steyaert, in a series of articles and books but also a special issue fo the journal Organization Studies last year. They centre continetal philsophy as an underpinning, but very imortant is the idea of "play" which lends itself to new forms of educational practice in the area and in some cases facilitates a new negotiation of the labour/managerial standoff.
Paul: My experience in the United States is that some universities are establishing an 'Innovation Center" to encourage students to invent new products and start new companies. This is a new trend and some of these centers are very successful.
