Hello! Actually their metabolism is heterotrophic,and they degrade organic substrates as an exogenous source of carbon.

I think perhaps a recombinant Saccharomyces is used. As the recombinant ones have a positive stable P450 expression.

However, I am aware of the heterologous expression approach; I use yeast as my model organism.

In one of my gene-drug relationship studies, I incubated the chemical agent with human microsome as P450 source. But the data I obtained from non-microsomally treated vs microsomally activated chemical agent were similar, implying that yeast system may have a way of biotransforming xenobiotics even without heterologous expression or treating with microsome.

That is the basis of my question, if anyone is aware of how yeast carry out this important biological process?
