It is said that when the signals are deformed then the best option is to use scale separation to minimize the effects and the wavelets are the best tools to do so.
An intuitive explanation of the fact will be highly appreciated.
@Stephen Cox , I was trying to verify the intuition that a deformation is caused by the difference in the way a system treats different frequencies in terms of their phase response especially group delay and ask how the scale separation aids in eliminating these effects.
Scales - can be stretched(large scale value-low freq) or compressed(lesser-high freq) a wavelet , say you want to correlate the signal that has deformation/to be measured. Frequency is the signal changing , so either you fix the scale or vary the scale to get the localization done(time-frequency).
