How does the overuse of chemical fertilizers and pesticides affect the environment? How do fertilizers and pesticides affect soil health and biodiversity?
Good day. I guess it would depend on what fertiliser one uses. But apparently any NO3 fertiliser lowers the brix of the plant that causes insects to be attracted to it. Too much phosporous and P-loving weeds will start growing. The wrong Ca: Mg ration and soil will struggle to breathe with a whole lot of negative effects as a result. I'm sure there are books written on the topic☺
Overuse of chemical fertilizers and pesticides harms the environment by polluting water sources, degrading soil health, and reducing biodiversity. Fertilizers can lead to nutrient imbalances, harming soil microorganisms and causing runoff that leads to water pollution. Pesticides kill not only pests but also beneficial insects and other wildlife, disrupting ecosystems and reducing biodiversity. This imbalance can make ecosystems more vulnerable to pests and diseases.
