How does 1H (hydrogen) correspond to brain metabolites such as GABA?

In MR spectoscopy, metabolites are quantified by the chemical shift of 1H nuclei. What exactly does this mean and how does 1H relate to these metabolites?

You might want find a basic book on 1NMR spectroscopy. You will need to know the relationship between chemical shift and GABA structure. You may also want to compare isolation techniques of the purified GABA. Isolation may change the spectrum.
