I am trying to remediate sites contaminated by mercury and cyanide from gold panning activities. I want to know how best I can use pyrite, since it is cheap.
Might be useful:

Dissociation kinetics is slow to immobilize mercury used to extract gold.Sodium Sulphide may also be tried to immobilize mercury.
Maybe these methods are useful:
- Evacuate the contaminated soil and treatment soil in aqueous mode in a reactor and using many methods like adsorption, biological.
- Fixation in also mentioned in literatures.
- Some microorganisms (bacteria and algae) can evaporate the mercury; this technology can apply in a safe reactor for reuse the mercury.
