i am trying to convert a polygon map to raster map so as to reclassify the map but it is not working out well.The original map has four sets of polygon but on converting to raster only two polygons are reflected.
Just manually digitize them if only four polygons then convert to raster.
Did you check if the polygons are multipart-polygons? If so, try to "break" them and do the conversion again.

First of all, what are you using to convert polygon to raster? Your question can be phrased more generically. Essentially, you are trying to do a 'Vector to Raster' conversion right? Depending of the GIS you use, there are usually modules built in to do such a task. For example, ArcGIS has the 'Polygon to Raster' tool. The usage is fairly straightforward.

Hello everyone,
Thank you all for your contributions.i really appreciate them.I have realized my mistake.I digitized the two larger polygons first and then digitized the other smaller polygons on top of the larger ones,instead digitizing every polygon as an independent entity.So the mistake i made was to digitize a polygon on an already digitized one.
