I work with 100 microns mouse mesenteric arteries and am trying to mount them on glass cannulas but my technique is not good. I frequently get the artery damaged or break the cannulas. I am wondering if any one has those demonstration videos or online resource that I can watch to get an idea of how this is done.

Some helpful tips from the video: do not to use any section of the artery that looks like a string of sausages because of too much probing with the tweezers; also, use branches off the artery as the grabbing point for tweezers to avoid damaging the section of the artery that you will actually use; apply slight pressure to closed end of artery to open it up for mounting.
Hi Patsy, finally i got a reply here! I was wondering no one's doing any diameter recordings. Anyway i found it easier to practice more and get my hands steady. For easy cannulation i was using a very fine canula so as to make it easier to get into. then i would use that in reverse to get it into the other canula. it's like it already opens up so gets easier to pull on.
i am not sure if i conveyed the message but jove video is equally good. their technique is though a little different
so Patsy are you using mesenterics or some other artery? one important advice for mesenterics that i learned was they were too sensitive to stretch and if i wasn't careful enough the tone was not good. So a little extra precaution with them. it's all about getting the tone that matters in the end.
Today is day 2 of my work with this. So I am very new. I am using cerebral arteries. I was able to mount one side of the artery using a smaller cannula. One thing I noticed is that good tweezers make a big difference. I need to get mine repaired. Thanks for your feedback!
Hi Abbas and Pasty, I will start this week using mesenterics arteries of mice then cerebral arteries could you please tell me what is the best size of the cannula or the diameter for it and what is the best size of tweezers and could you please tell me how you could deal with the arteries without cause damaging for them. I could not open the videos and I see that hard to mount, please help me. With kind regards.
I use 0.65mm cannula and keep settings for 13L and 10.5R. Make sure you pick the arteries running parallel to mesenterics (3rd or 4th order). They are fine so I normally cut at the branch and use it as support. That way the tone is not lost.
Hi Pasty, I am trying to mount cerebral artery on wire myograph i found it difficult to mount because i do not see its hole and it is very soft and sticky could you please tell me how to deal with it and what should i do please help me
