It depends on what you are allowed to do. If you have grant money for your research then you typically are obliged to publish your articles within that project in open access mode in your journal of choice, and having paid the fee then you are also free to upload the paper everywhere, including through Google scholar. That will of course increase the paper's visibility. As for Google scholar itself, if you want to make your paper more visible there, I. really do not know how to make sure it is often seen. I would assume that if your paper looks interesting (because of a snappy title, for example) then it will be read more often.
Work on latest hot topic in your domain and publish good quality article with reputed index and then upload it to research gate with full text and time to time share with your intended group.
