I want to find the bio-availability of vitamin E from the emulsion in rats. My doubt is, rats are already having vitamin E from the diet. How could I keep the control and find the increase in concentration after administration. Some one please advise me how to carry out, without going for vitamin E deficient animals. Route of administration is : Oral, blood collection: retro orbital.

Thanks for your input. What you said is correct. But it consumes more time and money. Growing the rat from the pubs with vitamin E free diet is difficult. Suggest a method.
One basic doubt, why most of the pharmacokinetic study has been carried out with 40 mg/kg of drug. Is there any reason behind that.
Pharmacokinetic study dose is not fixed....dose is optimized based on the efficacy of the drug.....I am not aware of 40mg/kg dose as standard.....generally the animal dose will be calculated as per the metabolic rate
