I did it one time in ArcGis but I don't remember how to extract for each GPS reference for species the 19bioclim variables linked to this point. I found an R script that allows me to do it but the limits of the map layer are not exactly the same as in ArGis and I have some points to correct. How can I check the georeferencing system and correct some points that are located in ocean (because of the map layer limits that differ between the softwares)?
So I would like to know if someone can explain how to do Bioclim extraction in ArcGis and how to improve my R script?
in arcgis spatial analyst, there is a tool called "extract multiple value to point" . You might need to import your lat/long coordinates using "make XY event layer" and save them in a shapefile before you can use the extraction tool.
And how do you correct points that fall in ocean? because, when I plot my GPS data on the map layer, some point to close to the coast are wrongly located in water? Is there any tool to know what point must be changed?
gps measurement error should not be larger than 50 m and Worldclim has a resolution of 1 km, so it should not be a problem.
If you have very large errors, you should check your coordinate system and make sure that there is no rounding error (1 degree is approximately 110 km near equator, so a few decimal places might not be enough)
Use function> Arctoolbox > Spatial analist tools > Extract multi values to points in ArcGIS or use in R package "Raster" or "SDM tools"
