The procedure in TGA is to use N2 for the degassing in step 1, after which CO2 is selected. But when CO2 is selected, the flow rate in the display screen is 0ml/min and the adsorption does not take place. Does this happen because the N2 flow rate is set as 0ml/min when CO2 flows? Or CO2 does not flow at all? Please give technical details about how to setup and connect the two gases(N2 and CO2) to TGA.
Hi. Could you please give some more details. What type of TGA are you using? Does the TGA have multiple inlet gas lines from which you select and control via the instrument or a single inlet with the selection and control of gases done externally?
I have TA instruments Q5000.. Yes there are two inlet ports for the gas. gas 1 port is connected to N2 which goes to balance + sample and gas 2 port is connected to CO2 which flows through sample only.
Its very strange. Just check the gas line or the flow rate controllers (may be one of them broken).
In those equipments you have to define the CO2 flow at the experimental program and at the total flows (in the same place where you establish the N2 balance flow)
