RGO is hydrophobic and ZnO is hydrophilic in nature. The composite RGO/ZnO should possess both the characteristics i.e Amphiphilic. As I knew, hydrophilicity of nano-material can determine from contact angle measurements. If there is any experiment other than this to determine Amphiphilicity of nano-material, please let me know.
In addition to the general contact angle measurement, you can also use Lateral Force Microscopy (LFM)--one mode of Atomic Force Microscope( AFM) to determine the hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity of the surface. The underlying mechanism is the difference of the interaction force between tip of AFM and the most top layer of the substrate. For a hydrophobic surface, the interaction force is small; while for a hydrophilic surface, the interaction force is large.
