I would appreciate if you could define what different steps are necessary to develop a policy for determining the frequency of a PMs on a specific equipment. For instance, we have a pump that it has three different PMs and we are not gathering any sensors' information such as current, vibration, etc. How can we define the frequency of these PMs for this pump that might have various failure modes? You have to follow the recommendations of the manufacturer. In the absence of manufacturer recommendation you have to:
Design your own PM program depending on similar machines and/or previous data and case studies. Also there are a number of factors that has to be considered such as machine criticality, initial cost, maintenance cost, and consequences of failures.
